Firebird 1.5 Final Release

The Firebird Project have released v1.5 of the Firebird database engine. This release represents a major upgrade to the open source engine, which has been developed from the InterBase source code released by Borland in July 2000. Install packages are currently available for Windows and Linux and other platforms should follow shortly.

Borland Brain Drain Continues

Borland is losing two top engineers to Microsoft in a brain drain reminiscent of a period several years ago when Borland sued Microsoft for such practices. The Scotts Valley company is losing Chief Technology Officer Blake Stone and Chuck Jazdzewski, formerly chief scientist and architect of Borland's Delphi technology.
